Does Personal Branding Make or Break a Business?

What do you think? Will personal branding make or break your business?

In this episode of our Business Edge – AMPLiFY! Small Business Marketing Strategies we’re talking about how personal branding directly or indirectly affects your business.

Recently I attended a business event where some of the attendees looked… disheveled (I go into more detail in the video). I also share some similar comments from entrepreneurs who have attended conferences and networking events.

Certainly personal branding isn’t all about appearance. It’s also about what you say, how you speak, what your values are, how you represent your brand on social media and so on. I also know that times change.

So my question to you is: How important do you think this aspect of personal branding is? I’ve seen mixed responses when others have posed this question on Facebook. You can hear some of them in the video.

I offer my own advice on what will impress or turn off your target audience and ask questions such as:

  • If you saw someone present themselves in a “non-business” way – whatever that means to you – would you do business with them?
  • Are we in a day and age where it doesn’t matter what you look like?
  • What do millennials think about personal branding today?
