When I first started building websites, I didn’t even have a business name.
I was finishing my business degree in Computer Information Systems, thinking I’d end up as a CIO in some corporate office. The websites were just a side hustle, something to help pay off my student loans.
I had no real strategy and certainly no long-term vision. I just wanted to make a bit of extra income.
But it turns out, life had other plans.
That little side hustle grew into a steady stream of referrals. And then one day, a particular client changed everything.
She Didn’t Just Need a Website, She Needed a Guide
I’ll never forget her. She was a private music teacher who was gifted, passionate, and completely lost when it came to building her business online. The tech side of things might as well have been written in Greek for her.
Like many of my clients, she came to me thinking she just needed a website. But what she was actually seeking was a partner.
She needed someone to show her how to present herself in a way that would build trust.
Someone to help her attract new students.
Someone to believe in her vision and help her grow a business she could be proud of.
That’s when it clicked.
