2017 Review: Content & Social Media Marketing Insights

What eVision Media’s Year-End Analytics Revealed About our Top 3 Performing Articles and how these Insights Can Help Your Business Marketing in 2018

It’s the end of the year and businesses are wrapping up their 2017 activities and preparing for new opportunities in 2018.

Like many of you, we put a lot of time and effort into our business and branding. And one key element to all business marketing efforts is to look at the results in order to effectively plan out future marketing and business operation changes.

We recently set about doing our year-end review on our content marketing and social media efforts and wanted to share some of the insights we discovered in hopes you will get inspired to analyze your own efforts while planning for the year ahead.

Where and What to Analyze

One quick and easy way to go about your year-end review is to look at your online engagement from the past year. Whether it’s checking your social media stats or looking at your website traffic, lots can be gleaned from these types of analytics.

There are a few places to look for the stats you need: You can utilize Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, Google Analytics, or your blog stats.

Log into each of these and take a look at how your posts and articles performed. They can provide a lot of valuable information on how your business and marketing resonates with users.

If you’re stuck on social media and want to read more, please review our robust catalogue of content related to all things social media.

So what did our analytics tell us what our followers liked? Here’s 3 valuable insights learned from 3 of our tops posts this year:

  1. Communicating to Maintain Effective Client Relationships

Not surprisingly this article from one of our guest authors, PR Specialist Susan Elford, offers similar advice to this one: listen!

Communication is key to a successful business and when clients and followers communicate with you through social media, whether it’s by a direct comment, a share, or something else, you need to listen!

Client relationships are a big deal for us and we like to build long-term ones by treating our clients with respect and listening to what they say.

We don’t just hear it, we listen. We then adjust and improve to reflect the client’s expectations.

So apply advice from the article like this:

Use language and mannerisms your clients can relate to – use mirroring to deliver messages in a way that makes them feel comfortable.

And apply the same recognition and response to your social media. If you’ve noticed some articles focus on something specific and your clients/audience are receptive to it by way of engagement, then in 2018 you should know what to do!

Give them what they want and build your client-base by accepting what your followers like and expect from you. Communication is a very broad term and doesn’t always mean simply direct vocalization or emails.

  2. 10 Ways to Attracting Clients Through Kindness

This article has our approach laid bare. We watch, listen, learn, and follow the golden rule: treat others as you would like to be treated.

Open yourself to receiving both good and bad feedback and accept each as constructive.

Assess the full picture of what is happening and understand where the feedback is coming from.

We employ kindness and generosity all the time. It’s a big deal when put into practice and by following that and our other 9 steps from the article, we’ve seen our business and client-base grow consistently!

  3. Why Twitter Ads Boost Business & How to Create Them

If your business isn’t on social media yet, then check out the link given at the start of this article.

Social media is a BIG factor in most businesses and has effectively replaced a lot of other support channels as users go to for getting a response.

So once you’re online it’s time to make the most of it. None of the businesses whose names we know are worth what they are today without requiring some paid component. Twitter is no exception.

While Facebook offers advertising and Instagram as well (among all others) our article on Twitter’s paid promotion resonated with our audience. 110 shares through our website alone is a great indicator of the effectiveness of this content with our follower-base and potential clients!

As stated in the article, diving into social media can have drawbacks so if you’re looking to get serious, it’s good to hire online marketers who know how to use social media for business.

We don’t have any information on how effective our reader’s Twitter campaigns have been, but our clients have seen stellar results. From this we learned that within our content we have users who are anxious to expand their presence online and try new ways to reach new potential clients.

Is this limited to Twitter? Probably not and the real message here is that when we give back to our clients and readers with free tips via content marketing strategies, we will see reciprocation by way of new leads and new clients.

So what did you learn this year from your content and social media marketing efforts? Take a look at your metrics (and if you don’t know how just let us know for a possible future article) and see what they tell you.

Then take that information into the board room and help make 2018 even better.

To your ongoing success,
Susan Friesen

Online Marketing Plan Essentials – 3 Ways to Drive Qualified Traffic to Your Website in Droves

Part Two: You Have a Website; Now How Do You Attract New Clients?

Online Marketing Plan Essentials – How to Drive Qualified Traffic to Your Website in Droves

In last week’s article, we talked about setting up the tools you’ll need to evaluate your website traffic in response to your online marketing efforts. And now it’s time to come up with an online marketing plan.

There are two broad categories to look at for your online marketing: Paid and Organic

An online marketing plan for website traffic comprises of 2 broad categories: Paid and OrganicClick To Tweet

Paid Website Traffic

This term refers to all instances of purchasing ads for buying ‘reach’ and/or by paying to promote a post on social media.

There are many different ways to buy visibility with an audience that it has become a massive industry unto itself. Google, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and all others are worth what they are because of the paid component.

It’s an essential part of any marketing strategy and not something you should attempt yourself unless you want to study this fast-paced industry and essentially become an expert in this field. Otherwise, you will spend a lot of time, money and energy with no guaranteed results.

Instead, hire an online marketing professional for help with this.

Organic Website Traffic

Organic traffic means visitors finding your website in a variety of ways that didn’t require you paying for that traffic to find you.

There are many ways to reach an audience through organic means. Before you begin any of the tactics described below, it’s important to first define who your target market is, what your brand positioning should be and also understand what your competitive advantage is.

Ensure you do your market research before implementing a marketing planClick To Tweet

Once those key planning strategies are in place, it’s time to implement the following to help drive qualified traffic to your website. Here are three online tactics to pursue:

  1. Content Marketing

Content marketing is strategically creating website content that will appeal to your ideal target market so they can then get to know, like and trust you more and ultimately convert into a paying customer. Essentially, you’re looking to establish yourself as an authority, entertain your users, and educate them.

Aside from creating compelling content, you also want to make sure that content is sending proper rank signals to Google by ensuring it is of value to the visitor as well as being unique. Content marketing is everywhere and nobody wants to read the same article for the hundredth time with a different voice saying the same thing.

When content is great, it gets linked to by other websites. These links are a major part of how Google evaluates your website for rank so great content not only drives traffic back, it also sends a positive message to Google that your website is worth ranking higher for the terms you’re targeting with your content.

Content marketing has been such a booming part of SEO it’s now harder than ever to be a voice in your industry so make your content count. 1 good piece of content is worth more than 1,000 bad ones.

» For more information on Content Marketing, read: Service Professional’s “Newbie” Guide to Content Marketing.

  2. Local Business Listings

Local business listings are easy to find and can be added by yourself via these local SEO tools listed here or your SEO marketer can also help with this. Some are paid but most are free.

Of any of the DIY methods for SEO this is the advisable one since it’s an easy process and many SEO agencies will charge monthly fees for simply running the software.

» Click here for more information on how you can optimize your website for local search.

  3. Social Media Marketing

This is the seemingly simplest method of driving traffic to your website and the one most done wrong. Many business owners don’t realize the purpose of using social media for business marketing is to drive traffic back to their website. This disconnect often causes a lot of wasted time and effort.

Social media management without SEO strategy is simply a PR campaign. All social platform links are what’s called ‘nofollow’ links so they never factor into your rank without a strategy in place that makes use of them in spite of the links being nofollow.

When you pay for a social media marketing expert, you are getting the know-how to make your social media efforts count. Simply posting a lot is not going to do it. And hashtag spamming is a sure sign you’ve hired someone who doesn’t know how social media marketing or even hashtags work.

Your social media is your way of connecting to your audience and Google observes that when traffic is sent through from a disconnected service. Your audience can grow much faster by reaching the right people but your content has to be unique and enjoyable to have an impact.

Feeling overwhelmed at the volume of effort needed to market your business? Find an online marketing agency who can work with you and your expertise so your input and knowledge of your industry is the guide when creating content that is presented as being from your company.

Both users and Google will respond better to something of substance than anyone simply pumping out content for the sake of having something online.

Also remember the point from earlier about the value of social media and make sure you’re leveraging the paid component or you’re missing out on a lot of your reach opportunity.

As you can see there is much more to cover here than we can expect to review in a few blog posts so if you’re interested in learning more about gaining valuable traffic to your website, then hiring a professional online marketing agency like eVision Media is a great next step.

3 Telltale Indicators Your Website is an Epic Failure

3 Telltale Indicators Your Website is An Epic Fail

Glaring Red Flags Your Website is Under Performing and What to Do About it

Do you know how well your website is really performing? While a great website can help bring in business; a bad one may be costing you sales.

And just because you have a sharp-looking website doesn’t mean it’s an effective one.

The sad part is that even though you may have spent a ton of money on a site redesign it doesn’t guarantee it will increase sales.

Here’s three glaring red flags indicating your website is not performing as well as it should and what to do about it.

Having a website is meaningless if no-one knows about it, visits it or sticks around long enough to see what you have to offer.

A Website is meaningless if no-one knows about it, visits it, or sticks aroundClick To Tweet

Here’s what to look out for:

  1. Low Volume of Website Visitors

Since your website is the primary marketing piece for your business, sending qualified visitors to it is fundamental for success. Here’s some tips to boost your site traffic and get more visitors to see your offerings:

  2. Sending qualified visitors to your website is fundamental for business successClick To Tweet
    • Advertise using Google Ad and other browser paid search, social media advertising and display advertising.
    • Get actively involved in Social media. These efforts can build a following and drive loyal fans to your website.
    • Implement content marketing strategies by frequently adding search engine optimized content to your blog. Writing informative articles and posting value-driven videos will not only attract visitors but also showcase your expertise in your industry.
    • Enlist in an SEO expert who can boost qualified website traffic and also improve your search engine rankings.
  3. High Bounce Rate

A bounce rate measures the percentage of many visitors leave your website without browsing any further after that first page they land on.  If people visit your home page and click away, that’s a sign changes are needed to keep their interest.

Quickly leaving website visitors indicate several potential problemsClick To Tweet

Here’s some reasons why people are leaving your site before exploring any further:

    • Your home page should be compelling and appeal to your ideal target market. Ensure your brand messaging matches what your visitors are expecting to see so they are drawn in and want to learn more. It’s also important to review where you are promoting your business and ensure your offerings are highly relevant for them. Be sure the call to action is clearly prominent for them to take a next step.
    • People can be very impatient. If your website is slow to load, they will leave long before they have a chance to see your offerings. Your site’s load time must be fast to capture (and hold) your visitor’s attention.
    • Users can get frustrated easily if they can’t find what they’re looking for quickly. Similarly if they encounter broken links, spelling and grammar errors and have a general bad user experience while trying to navigate your site.
    • Sadly, just having a website is not enough.  It’s critical to have your website display properly on smart phones and mobile devices too.  Today, 1.2 billion people are accessing the Internet from mobile devices. Of those users, up to 80% of them browse using a smartphone.

In other words, if your website is not mobile friendly, you are missing out on a lot of potential business.
  4. No Conversions

You can have all the traffic in the world, but if they don’t buy, it does you no good. Fortunately, if you aren’t happy with the conversion rate, there are ways to improve your site to improve the number of visitors who convert into paying customers.

Non-converting website visitors are not good for businessClick To Tweet
    • Most visitors won’t buy after their first exposure to your website.  So it’s really important to capture those leads and follow up with them.  Offering a free giveaway is an effective way to get contact information and build your marketing list.

But if people aren’t signing up for your freebie, then it’s time to make some changes.  You may need a more enticing offering or improve your call to action for the sign up.  Using a popup or exit popup can help boost sign up rates.  Having a more attractive graphic image of your freebie can boost conversions as well.
    • The best way to follow up with these leads is through an auto-responder series that is triggered immediately after they sign up for your free giveaway. Additionally, sending out consistent newsletters to your list is also very effective at staying top of mind for them, increasing your chances greatly of them eventually converting into a paying customer.

If you’re not sure where to find these three valuable metrics, the best way to analyze them is to check your website’s Google Analytics and monitor your website’s performance there.

How to Incorporate Content Marketing into Twitter

Today we’re going to look at how to use content marketing to drive traffic to your website from Twitter.

Make Sure You Have the Right Content

The first thing to cover is that when doing content marketing be sure to have unique content that is applicable to your target market.

Make sure you take into account demographic information when creating your content so you make and share the right information for your desired audience.

Using Twitter to Promote Your Content

This video is about driving traffic to your blog with a focus on using Twitter for content marketing.

Post about your blog/content on Twitter often because it drives users towards your content.

Try 10 – 15 Tweets per day about your content spread throughout the day.

Don’t worry about how recent the content has been produced ad instead focus on its relevance to your users. If it’s still relevant then keep sharing!

Even if its 2- 3 years old you can keep sharing it. Users may have forgotten they saw it the first time or it may not have been relevant to them before but is now.

Share other user’s content as well if it is useful to your users and compatible with your content and brand.

Get yourself a tool like Hootsuite that allows you to schedule your tweets throughout the day.

Schedule your tweets so they appear when you know your followers are going to be online.

Hootsuite has a great auto-schedule tool you can use for this.

When you have a new article on your blog you can share that 2 -3 times per day right up until you post your next new blog post.

Try varying the title/tweets though so it’s not repetitious.

Add hashtags that are relevant to the content you’re sharing. For my video eTips I use #eTip.

You can even ask for a retweet. Try Please RT and sometimes people will share it!

Try the paid reach options. It will help get your content and brand out to many more people.

The more who see it the more chances you have of someone signing up or purchasing from you or signing up for your newsletter.

SEO 101: Why Entrepreneurs Need to Pay Close Attention

Whether you are a solopreneur or run a busy business, SEO is a piece of your marketing pie that you can’t ignore.

What the heck is SEO anyway? I know this phrase has been around for years but a lot of entrepreneurs and small business owners do not really totally understand what it means.

Watch today’s eTip as I explain exactly what SEO is and what you need to know so you can take advantage of its power in driving qualified traffic back to your website:

The acronym SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. In terms of your website, your SEO objective is to be visible in front of your target market when they are doing a search in search engines such as a Google, Yahoo!, Bing or any of the other search engines available.

Understanding What Your Target Market is Searching for

When people do a “Google” search, they are looking for a solution to a problem. If your business offering matches that solution, your goal is to position yourself in front of those people so you can provide the solution they are seeking.

This is where SEO comes in.

SEO is a form of marketing that captures the interest of people who do not know you yet but your product or service will be the solution they seek. Your goal is to position your website listing high enough in the search results rankings to be seen by those people.

Ideally you want to be in the first 3 pages of search results. If they can’t find what they are looking for after the third page, they are going to try a different Google search.

Why Keywords are Important

Your job is to understand what your target market would be typing into the search engines. Do some research to find out What keywords they be using if they were looking for your product or service.

Once you have that understanding, take those keywords and phrases and infuse them into your website through title tags, description tags, keyword META tags, and the website page and blog content as well.

No One Knows the Secret to High Rankings

The biggest problem marketers face is not knowing what the best solution is to get a website ranked number one in the search engine rankings.

Nobody knows. No one has that secret to success so be aware of those that promise you rankings at the top of search engines. No one can make that kind of promise.

As an entrepreneur you want to get your website as high up in the search engine rankings so your target market can easily find you.

Then it’s up to your website to appeal to that target market and convert those people either into your list so you can further nurture them or to make a purchase.

The Reality of Entrepreneurship

The reality of being a business owner is you have to keep inviting your target market to come to your website. The best way to do that is by investing in SEO to drive qualified traffic to your website. You want to nurture new people who do not know you yet and convert them into paying clients.

If you have any questions about SEO, feel free to leave a message in the comment section below and I’d be happy to answer. Also, if you’re looking for a qualified SEO specialist who can boost your search engine rankings, give us a call to discuss.

Until next time,
Susan Friesen

Basic Search Engine Optimization Principles for Entrepreneurs

Basic Search Engine Optimization Principles for Entrepreneurs

How Keyword Rich Content is Directly Related to SEO for your Business

Ever wonder what SEO really is but were afraid to ask?

SEO is an acronym for “Search Engine Optimization”. It’s the umbrella term for all the methods you can use to ensure your website is found by various search engine result pages (SERPs).

Google is the most widely used search engine but it’s certainly not the only one. There’s Bing, Yahoo!, AOL and others.

If your website does not appear higher up in their search rankings, then you are missing out on a huge opportunity.

If your website is not SEO friendly, you're missing out on a huge opportunityClick To Tweet

The goal of SEO is to get qualified leads and prospects to discover your business when they are searching for products or services that you offer in the search engines.

SEO isn’t Rocket Science but it can be Complicated

When it comes to SEO, a few important tactics can greatly improve your presence in the increasingly crowded online space.

If you’re attempting search optimization on your own or more wisely hiring an SEO expert, it’s important to be informed with certain SEO fundamentals before proceeding.

Search engines try to provide the most relevant results to a searcher’s query. Whether it’s an answer to a simple question like, “how many ounces are in a gallon?” to more complicated queries such as, “what is the best Chinese restaurant nearest to me?”

After reading this article, you will gain a better understanding of what you need to know before beginning an SEO campaign and what your role is if you decide to outsource this valuable marketing strategy.

Know Your Audience and What Content They’re Looking For

Why Content Marketing Plays a Big Role in SEO

First let’s look at what SEO feeds on. And that is content (text, images, videos etc) found on your website.

Since great SEO relies on how well your content is ranked,  as well as factoring in your social media and local engagements, you want to keep fluff content to a minimum and focus on quality.

While it sounds time-consuming, quality content has benefits that reach beyond SEO.

Quality website content has benefits that reach well beyond SEOClick To Tweet

Good content is useful across all marketing mediums and forces you to think through your message from a topic and keyword perspective.

The key is to ensure you are honing in on what actually matters to your audience.

It’s imperative you know who would want to buy your products or services and what they’re searching for in the search engines in order for them to find your website as the solution to their needs.

Your initial instincts may be correct, but you might be missing things that could gain additional website traffic, potential relationship opportunities, or new market segments to your business.

Therefore, proper due diligence is paramount in order to map your target audience to the keywords, topics, and phrases they’re using in and around your industry.

Create SEO-Driven Content

Writing only for search engines usually makes your content boring. Typically that strategy won’t help to  convert your visitors into customers.

It’s far better to focus on people first. Make your content as value-driven as possible and then optimize it for search engine bots without sacrificing the quality of your content.

The underlying content is extremely important. Too many people skimp on content but it’s one of the major anchors that tether you to Google’s relevancy algorithms.

The problem we see a lot of entrepreneurs run into is them creating content “they” think is perfect and sounds great to them but SEO wise, can at times be utterly worthless.

Being authentic is important but do so while factoring in the reason why you’re creating the content in the first place with marketing, branding, lead generation and of course SEO in mind.

Thin content with errors, or duplicate content and spun or spam content can really hurt you.

Instead, the content not only has to be lengthy, but it has to be well-written, keyword rich and highly engaging where readers are spending a good amount of time digesting and consuming that content.

Content Creation for SEO Success

As you create content, you’ll want to make sure each page is optimized for:

  • Page speed,
  • bot crawling,
  • responsive friendliness, and
  • overall findability.

An Initial investment in a site audit or recommendations for establishing a few initial best practices will save you much time and money in the long run.

Ideas for new content can be gathered from questions your own clients often ask or visit online forums and social media to find questions around your industry, products, and marketplace for more inspiration.

Check the competition with content ideas to ensure you’re on par with your competitors when it comes to covering topics and questions in the industry concerning your company.

Manage Your Keywords Wisely

The key to pleasing both search engines and visitors is to have quality content on our website that includes keywords your target market would be using in the search engines when looking for a solution to a problem your business can solve.

To do this, you want to run your keywords and topics through a tool like Google’s Keyword Planner to make sure the topics and keywords you have chosen have enough search volume and potential traffic to make them worthwhile.

Be sure to take into account the relevance of the search to your audience.

The narrower the topic focus, the lower the traffic typically. This is often offset by the accuracy and interest of the audience.

Do not Spam the keywords!

This also means using different connotations of the same words over and over again within your content.

Google loves NEW content. Keep in mind that websites are liquid so this is where your blog plays a major role in effective SEO.

What Search Engines Are NOT Looking For

Search engine spiders only have a certain amount of data storage. If you’re performing shady tactics or trying to trick them, chances are you’re going to hurt yourself and your business reputation in the long run.

At the end of the day, focusing on quality content that can be easily found by your target audience will benefit all of your marketing and sales efforts. Spend a lot of time on the things above and the rest will fall into place.

How to Ensure Your Website is Ideally Positioned For Your Target Market

How to Ensure Your Website is Ideally Positioned For Your Target Market

5 Key Components Your Website Requires to Attract Your Ideal Client and Get the Sales You Want

Is your website attracting the right people who are actually interested in purchasing from you?

Or is it just sitting there and not really accomplishing what you hoped it would?

Every business owner wants to get more qualified traffic to their site and then convert that traffic into sales. I mean there’d be no point in having one if that weren’t the ultimate goal!

But it seems to me a lot of business owners miss the mark in HOW to make that goal a reality.

The truth is, you’re not going to get the results you want from a purchased WordPress theme or worse, a free WIX or GoDaddy site.  Sorry, but throwing up a cheap, pre-built site just for the sake of having something up is not going to win you any Brownie (or Scout) badges in the Business Marketing category (if there is such a thing??)

Why? Because those types of free, low-cost or DIY sites are not going to do the job you want them to unless you have expertise in all of the different factors a website requires that converts visitors into buyers.

Free, low-cost/DIY websites won't get results unless you have lots of web development expertiseClick To Tweet

This is why we design and build custom websites and never touch the purchased themes or drag and drop DIY sites. They simply aren’t going to get the job done that our clients expect.

What do I mean by that?

First, it’s important to understand your website serves many purposes such as:

  • A way to showcase your business and its offerings
  • A means for constant marketing and promotion 24-hours a day
  • A platform that emphasizes your brand positioning
  • A facility for converting visitors into paying customers
  • A device for attracting your ideal clients into your sales and marketing funnels so you can continue to nurture them

And in order to accomplish all of that, a lot of planning, strategy and design needs to take place.

To have a lead-generating website, a lot of planning, strategy and design is first requiredClick To Tweet

This article provides five factors that go into building and promoting a website that converts. Each factor requires the right expertise to make your site a client-attracting, lead-generating machine:

  1. Visually-Appealing Branding

Your visual brand is extremely important. The impression people instantly get about you when they land on your home page or landing page will greatly impact their decision to keep exploring or move on to your competitor.

    Not Just a Pretty Logo…

Branding is not just having a pretty logo designed by you or someone on Fivrr. It’s a visual representation that shows your understanding who your ideal client is and how to position yourself in front of them in order to appeal to them.

    Identify Your Ideal Client

The first thing to do is define who the people are that are your perfect client. You need to clearly understand what problems they have and how your product or service will be a solution for them.

This analysis needs to be a deep exploration not only of the typical demographics such as age, gender and location, but also a psychographics study of what emotional state they are in.

The analysis will then help you understand what specific colours, imagery, fonts and other style assets to use on your website, logo and branding so that it strongly appeals to them.

By going through this process and designing a website with a specific purpose of positioning you favourably in front of your ideal client, you will then “speak their language” and reassure them they are in the right place.

  2. Compelling Marketing Messages

Having a visually appealing website is just half the battle. You also need it need to be user-friendly and not cause confusion that will potentially send them away.

But more importantly, when your ideal client lands there, the words they read and the images they see also need to appeal to them.

This is why you need to create a powerful marketing message through excellent copywriting that speaks directly to their situation, needs, challenges and struggles.

    Let Your USP Shine

Your unique marketing message needs to be prominent on the home page through the use of headlines, videos, testimonials, and images. This message also needs to showcase your USP (Unique Selling Proposition) – why should they choose you over your competitor?

Here’s more tips on what your home page should include.

Your Home Page is Just the Tip of the Iceberg

The rest of your site pages also need to stay focused with this intent. And having other means in getting your marketing message out to the masses is also a big factor to consider.

  3. Consistent Content Marketing

Whether it’s a blog post, newsletter, podcast or YouTube show, pick at least one or two of these content marketing strategies and consistently get your message out there in front of the right people.

Frequency is the key. But not only do you have to be consistent, you also have to create and stick to a marketing calendar where, at minimum, you should be producing informative content on a weekly basis.

    Create a Free Giveaway

Most first-time users to a website won’t make an immediate purchase. This is why you want to get them into your newsletter database so you can continue to nurture them where they will eventually make the purchase when ready.

This is often done using a free giveaway. Something that your ideal client would want to receive from you that would be very helpful to them.

Do some market research to find out if a free report on a specific topic would be something they would find valuable enough to provide their name and email address for. It might be a video series that is more compelling to them.

You need to find out what they will find irresistible and then create it.

    Create Shareable Content

Your blog is a prime place for you to showcase your expertise and provide solutions to your ideal clients’ problems.

By being consistent with creating and sharing new, informative content, the more you are developing the “Know, Like and Trust” factor with them. This then creates a better chance of them converting to paying clients.

  4. Implementation of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Strategies

Once your website is built, it needs to be search engine optimized in order to be found through Google and other search engine results.

The text, titles, descriptions and keywords all need to be in alignment with what your ideal client will be searching for when they are looking for a solution to their problem, of which your product or service will provide.

Your website should also be submitted to various search engines and directories to ensure it is being properly indexed and found.

  5. Active Social Media Involvement

When you know who your ideal client is, it’s easier to find them on social media and draw them to your website.

Provide valuable, informative and inspirational posts you know they will want to receive from you to help build your brand exposure. This will compel them to want to check you out further by visiting your website.

Be sure to use the 20% rule and sprinkle in promotional posts amongst your value-driven posts that will drive traffic back to your website.

Also make sure your visual brand is consistent throughout all your social media accounts. That’s very important for brand continuity so your ideal client will begin to recognize you and your business just by seeing your brand visuals.

‘Cheap and Easy’ Could Be Costing You Qualified Business Leads

As you can see there are several factors involved in having a website that will actually get you results.

So before you convince yourself the cheap and DIY route is the best way to go, take into consideration how much potential business you could be losing because your primary piece of marketing, your virtual storefront if you will, is not appealing to the right people.

If you’re worried your website is not reaching its true potential, give us a call and let’s discuss how we can turn that around for you.

Facebook for Business: Futile or Beneficial?

Facebook for Business: Futile or Beneficial?

7 Facebook Facts Every Business Should be Aware of for 2017

Does your business have a Facebook presence?  If so, have you been actively capitalizing on its social marketing reach or have you abandoned it due to thinking your efforts were futile?

I fear many of you are thinking the latter and feel pretty defeated over the lack of results you’re getting there.

Trying to build brand awareness and get solid leads from Facebook can be a frustrating experience. And honestly, without a proper strategy in place, you could very well be wasting your time.

Is Facebook for Business futile or beneficial? These recent stats can help decideClick To Tweet

But before you give up on this highly effective marketing channel all together, consider these recent Facebook stats:

  1. Across the globe, Facebook is the top social network for membership with an 84% share. This means your business is missing out on a large potential for brand exposure if not actively involved on Facebook.
  2. 79% of all Internet users worldwide use Facebook with 68% of those being adults in the U.S. Moreover, it is estimated there will be 169.2 million Facebook users in the U.S. by 2018.
  3. There are 79 billion monthly active users worldwide on the Facebook platform with 1.18 billion people using it on a daily basis. That’s billion. Think about the potential your business has in getting in front of just a fraction of that.
  4. 50% of 18-24 year-olds immediately log into Facebook when they wake up. If your target market is this age group, you now know the best time to be posting!
  5. Nearly 30% of users are aged 25-35, which is the most common demographic. This creates a great opportunity for you to get in front of this prime target audience and expand your brand reach more than any other marketing method can accomplish without having to pay multiple thousands of dollars to do so.
  6. The average time a user spends on Facebook each day is 20+ minutes. This is plenty of time to get your value-rich content in front of them!
  7. There’s an average of over 8 billion video views on Facebook every day. This is why incorporating video into your social media strategy can be very beneficial.

Yes, Facebook is a very crowded space where it has become increasingly challenging to get your voice heard. But there is hope!

With the use of offering high-quality content through content marketing initiatives, consistent posting, Facebook Ads and taking advantage of Facebook’s live video, your business can reap many rewards.

Quality content, consistency, ads & live video on Facebook reap many rewards for BusinessesClick To Tweet

Where Do You Go From Here?

There are lots of ways to get better results from your Facebook efforts but here’s a short list that can get you started in the right direction:

  • Thoroughly understand who your ideal target market is so you know what kind of posts will appeal to them.
  • Start a content marketing plan stemming from your blog and begin sharing that blog content to all of your social media platforms.
  • Use a social media scheduling platform like Hootsuite to better organize your time.
  • Create value-driven pieces of content (text, images and video) and consistently post them to your page.
  • Ensure your business page is looking professional to match your brand design as well as fully filled out with a proper description and URL back to your website so your followers know exactly what you do.
  • Add a call to action on your business page that will prompt followers to go to the next level with your business.
  • Get actively involved on Facebook both from your personal profile and your business page by liking, commenting and sharing other people’s posts, pages and groups.
  • Hire a social media professional who understands Facebook advertising to strategically place promotional ads (as opposed to trying to do this yourself where you are bound to not get the same results and pay a lot more money too.)

If you are looking for a more hands-on, step-by-step approach to learning more about Facebook and online marketing in general, I invite you to join Social Blast: eMarketing for Entrepreneurs, my monthly membership program that teaches you not only what to do, but how to do it and why you should be doing it.

4 Content Marketing Trends for Business Owners in 2017

4 Content Marketing Trends for Business Owners in 2017

As we approach 2017, it’s interesting to think about where we’re headed in the coming year when it comes to marketing our business.

All business owners want to stay on top of their game by being prepared for what’s ahead but in today’s fast-changing world, what does that look like?

To stay on top of your content marketing game in 2017, plan ahead nowClick To Tweet

Below are some content marketing trends you’ll want to prepare for when marketing your business in the coming year:

  1. Incorporate More Social Media Graphics, Infographics, Visuals and Videos.  Since your followers are 80 percent more likely to read your content if you use coloured visuals, this area needs to be built up more across your social media channels.

The popularity of visual content will only increase, so you must be prepared. Using Facebook live is still a hot commodity so be sure to dive into that opportunity too!
  2. Build a Team.  60 percent of marketers in one survey said content creation was their biggest challenge last year.

To overcome this obstacle, get a team of people to help make content development and publishing easy. This includes having a good writer (could be a specialist in essay writing service) and social media specialist.
  3. Tap Into Influencers.  90% of consumers trust peer recommendations where only 33% trust ads.

Consumers have begun to tune out traditional ads and increasingly connect to their social networks to guide their buying decisions. That’s why connecting with influencers is so important.

What is an influencer? “Influencers are people with significant networks (followers, readers, etc.) who can speak to a broad range of products and services with the ability to sway opinions in their favor.”  –  Jess Estrada.

Identify influencers to reach out to in your industry. Follow them on social media and see where you can strike up a conversation.
  4. Drive Content Marketing Leads into a Funnel. High value content is one thing, but if you don’t build in a strategy that continues building rapport with prospects in the right way, you are leaving money on the table.

Content Marketing is a highly effective way to segment your audience and send them targeted follow-ups and offers, instead of adding them to your main email list.

Creating an Effective Content Marketing Plan for 2017

One of the biggest mistakes I have seen businesses make is they jump into content marketing without a strategy.  While trying to appeal to their target market, they slap together a couple of eBooks and free offerings and hope it will be enough to drive sales.

The first step to making content marketing really work for you is to have a solid, smart content marketing plan in place.

Make sure you outline the following essentials in your content marketing plan:

  • Understand Who You Are Marketing to. Before starting any kind of marketing strategy, it’s vital you understand who your ideal target market is. There’s no point in investing your time and money into marketing when you don’t have a clear understanding of who you want to buy from you.
  • A Comprehensive Review of Past Efforts.  Review your past content marketing efforts and results from 2016. This helps you to see what was most effective, what wasn’t, and develop a plan to improve for next year.
  • Set Goals and Benchmarks to Determine Future Campaign Success. Having a clear understanding of what you want to accomplish and what that will look like is important.

Do you want to develop awareness? Are you working to build brand loyalty? Are you educating prospects? Want to increase engagement with your tribe? Are you increasing sales and profitability?
  • Develop Content Ideas that Align with Sales Goals.  Here’s some example sales goals:
    • Boost sales of Mega Fit Bootcamp by 25%.
    • Get 50 new leads a month into our sales funnel.
    • Create an eBook on Sales Tips for People Who Hate to Sell to drive leads to the funnel.
  • Plan a Content Marketing Calendar with Dates and Deadlines. Create an editorial calendar that clearly lays out your dates and deadlines so you can easily prioritize your efforts. This eliminates the “what do I write” problem.

It also makes it much easier to work ahead on content and delegate to team members.

I hope you’d enjoyed these highlights, stats, and facts to help you prepare for content marketing in the coming year.

If you’re feeling this topic is a bit overwhelming, I invite you to join my Social Blast monthly membership program where I cover content marketing tactics and strategies. Click here for details.

I’m curious: What changes do you plan to make to your social media strategy in 2017?
