Twitter is a great social media network that can help build your reach in a big way.

Listen to today’s 1 minute tip that explains what you can do on Twitter to help build your social reach and garner new clients from your efforts.

Be sure to follow colleagues, big brands, people in your ideal target market and also leaders of your industry that share the same target market as you. Also follow those in your local community and build a presence with those that live in the same geographic region as you.

Avoid playing the numbers game on Twitter. There are a lot of people who will follow anyone, no matter who they are, just to get those people to follow them back. If they don’t follow them back, then they’ll unfollow them.

This type of game enables bragging rights to how many followers they have but the problem is, those followers are not going to convert into clients if they are not in their target market, so the number is very misleading and it ends up being a big waste of time.

To me this is not at all what Twitter was meant to be.

Follow the people that you want to be engaged with and have an interest of, don’t worry if they don’t follow you back – instead, watch the conversations, reply to posts of interest, RT posts you know your followers would be interested in and get visible this way.

These people will see how much you are interested and will naturally follow you because of that. Do this daily and watch your fan base and client list grow.
